Youth Voices Are the Foundation of a Stronger Democracy
June 16, 2026
Young people are the driving force behind social transformation, democratic development, and sustainable progress. As Nepal continues to strengthen its democratic institutions and governance systems, meaningful youth participation has become more important than ever.
Recognizing the vital role of young leaders in shaping the future of the nation, Samanwaya is pleased to announce the Youth Advocacy Orientation & Network Strengthening Program, a unique opportunity designed to equip youth with the knowledge, skills, and networks necessary to engage effectively in public policy, governance, and civic processes.
Why Youth Advocacy Matters
A vibrant democracy depends on active and informed citizens. Young people bring fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and a strong commitment to addressing social challenges. However, many youth often face barriers to understanding policy-making processes and engaging with decision-makers.
This program aims to bridge that gap by providing practical insights into how governance systems work and how young people can effectively advocate for issues that matter to their communities.
What Participants Will Learn
The orientation program is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of Nepal’s democratic and governance systems. Key learning areas include:
Understanding the Parliament of Nepal
Participants will gain insights into the structure, functions, and responsibilities of Nepal’s Parliament and how legislative decisions impact citizens.
Policy Formulation and Legislative Processes
The program will explore how public policies are developed, debated, and implemented, helping participants understand the journey from idea to law.
Effective Advocacy and Civic Engagement
Youth will learn practical advocacy techniques, communication strategies, and methods for influencing policy discussions and public decision-making.
Engaging Elected Representatives and Decision-Makers
Participants will discover how to build constructive relationships with policymakers, local representatives, and government institutions.
Building a National Youth Advocacy Network
The program will provide a platform for participants from different regions of Nepal to connect, collaborate, and strengthen a nationwide network of youth advocates.
